Characteristics of ABS:

• Heat Resistance: ABS has a higher melting temperature than PLA, making it more heat resistant. This makes it suitable for applications exposed to higher temperatures, such as parts for electronics or items used in cars or outdoors.
• High Strength and Durability: ABS is a strong, rigid material that resists breaking and bending, making it ideal for creating durable parts and functional prototypes that need to withstand mechanical stress.
• Soluble in Acetone: ABS can be smoothed with acetone, resulting in a glossy finish. This property allows reducing the visibility of print layers and creating a more polished look for the final product.
• Flexibility: Although ABS is rigid, it also offers a certain degree of flexibility, making it less likely to break under pressure than more brittle materials. This balance between stiffness and flexibility makes it versatile for various applications.
• Warping Sensitivity: One of the challenges when printing with ABS is the tendency to warp, especially with larger prints. This is because ABS shrinks as it cools, which can cause distortion at the bottom of the object. To counter this, it is recommended to use a heated print bed and maintain a stable printing environment.
